Important Dates
Along with Teacher Assessments the children in each Year Group will be undertaking some Internal
Standardised Assessment Tests in Maths, English, Reading and Science during the following dates:
Monday23rd April - Friday 18th May
The dates of the National Tests are between:
2nd - 9th May 2018
The tests are used with teacher assessments by the school to band the children in their groups for Maths and English and are used by Lliswerry High School as a baseline from which they band the children.
Therefore, if you are thinking of booking an annual holiday, we ask parents to please book it during school holidays.
In line with WAG advice we do not authorise any holidays taken during school time and fixed penalty notices are now in operation for all unauthorised absences for more than 5 days in a term.
Parent Support
Thank you to all parents who supported our Christmas concerts and raffles.
It was lovely to see so many of you at school!
PTFA will be meeting on Wednesday 24th January at 9:00 a.m. in the Staff Room above the Canteen if you would like to attend
School Start times
We are monitoring attendance and punctuality in school at the moment and we have noticed that a number of children are coming into school about 5 -10 minutes late.
Please can parents of these children note the times that school starts so that their childs punctuality improves.
Doors will open at: 8.50 am for children to enter school.
School starts and classroom and corridor doors close: 9.00 am
Pupils who are LATE arriving at school
If pupils are late arriving for school e.g. after doors close at 9.00am, parents need to sign children in by completing a form stating the pupils name, class, time of entry, reason for lateness and what the child is having for lunch.
Parents need to be aware it is their responsibility to ensure their child is in school and through the school doors - please do not leave your child in the main street or stay in cars whilst children are sent into school alone.
Thank you for your continued support.
Parking outside school gates
We have been contacted by a number of local residents and the police with concerns over dangerous parking on Milner Street and Jenkins Street.
Please avoid parking illegally on zigzag lines - our local police officers will be patrolling the area.
Please note: Parents are not allowed to park in school car park or use car park for dropping off / picking up pupils at any time of day without advance permission from Headteacher. Please DO NOT use school car park for Breakfast Club.
All pedestrians are advised to use pedestrian gate from Jenkins Street (next to Canteen building) not gates through car park.
Main Office Toilets
Toilet facilities within the School are for use by Staff and Pupils only.
The toilet located off the Junior Reception area is only for staff and official visitors and not for public use.
We appreciate your understanding co-operation
Competition time!
All pupils will be bringing home a template for designing a character for a competition which we are involved in with our cluster primary schools (Lliswerry, Somerton, Maindee and St. Andrew\'s). This will run as a competition and a winner will be chosen from each primary school. The winning entry will win two tickets to Cineworld in Friar\'s Walk. Our pupils have been asked to design a character who will become the part of a villain. The character will feature in a range of e-safety stories generated by pupils across the cluster. The winning characters will be digitalised by a professional graphic designer. We\'re super excited by this and are looking forward to seeing all of the pupils entries - good luck!
