IMPORTANT: Change to Year 3-4 Football Club
This will now be held on Tuesdays from 3.15 - 4.00pm and will be run by Sports Development officers.
Important Dates to Avoid when Booking Holidays
Along with Teacher Assessments the children in each Year Group will be undertaking some Internal Standardised Assessment Tests in Maths, English, Reading and Science during the following dates:
MondaY 25th April - Friday 20th May
The dates of the National Tests are between:
3rd - 10th May 2016
The tests are used with teacher assessments by the school to band the children in their groups for Maths and English and are used by Lliswerry High School as a baseline from which they band the children.
Therefore, if you are thinking of booking an annual holiday, we ask parents to please book it during school holidays.
Reception INTAKE - SEPTEMBER 2016
Please can parents note that if your child currently has a place in our School Nursery admission to St. Andrews Primary School is not automatic. Parents need to apply to the LEA admissions panel.
We have a full intake in Nursery this year so please apply as soon as possible, so that you get a place in our Reception 2016 intake. Last year some parents applied late and unfortunately, did not get a place in our Reception class.
If your child reaches four years of age by 31st August 2016, please ensure that a completed school admission form with the relevant documentation stated in the letter (i.e. current Council Tax Bill or Driving License) is returned to Civic Centre as soon as possible or an online form is completed.
Parent Support
Thank you to all parents who supported our Christmas concerts and raffles.
It was lovely to see so many of you at school!
Your generosity helped us to raise 641.50 towards the cost of supporting our School Council initiatives.
RECYCLING LED BY School Eco- Council
This year Newport LEA are once again holding a Christmas Card Recycling competition and
St. Andrews Primary is taking part in the competition; but we need your help!
The competition closes on THURSday 21st January, so please send all your old Christmas Cards into school before this date. We cannot accept cards once the competition closes.
The more cards we collect, the better our chances of winning one of the 3 prizes: 1st Prize 125 VOUCHER; 2nd Prize is a 100 VOUCHER and 3rd Prize is a 25 VOUCHER to spend on eco equipment for school. At the same time our pupils will have made a great contribution in protecting our environment as all of the cards collected will be recycled.
Are we up to the challenge?
The Eco council seem to think we can win, but they need our help!
School Start times
We are monitoring attendance and punctuality in school at the moment and we have noticed that a number of children are coming into school about 5 -10 minutes late.
Please can parents of these children note the times that school starts so that their childs punctuality improves.
Doors will open at: 8.50 am for children to enter school.
School starts and classroom and corridor doors close: 9.00 am.
